Jessica Yunker L.Ac.
Jessica Yunker is a licensed acupuncturist and board-certified herbalist, as well as an adjunct professor at Touro College's Graduate Program in Oriental Medicine in New York City. She holds a Masters of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Touro College. Upon graduation, she was presented with the Touro College Maimonides Award for exemplifying high professional ideals in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Before attending acupuncture school, Jessica graduated from Vassar College with a degree in Psychology. Before becoming an acupuncturist, Jessica spent several years working in an outpatient psychiatric research
facility, specializing in anxiety and depressive disorders. During this experience, she became very interested in the mind-body connection and the different ways that healthcare practitioners could improve a patient's overall sense of health and well-being - healing the body and the mind at the same time. In addition, Jessica has experience working with several specific patient populations, including hospital inpatients recovering from strokes and patients at different stages of cancer. She is certified by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association, for her work with acupuncture and addiction.
The basis of Jessica's practice is the belief that an understanding of how illness influences the emotions and the spirit of a person is just as important as understanding the physical manifestations of disease. Jessica lives in Manhattan with her husband and an adorable cat. In her spare time, she practices yoga, and loves to read, cook, and make jewelry.
