I started at Pilates Reforming NY on 04/17/11 and have taken 30 classes. My sports/physical acivities are Bicycling, Yoga, Pilates. I heard about Pilates Reforming NY from a friend. The goals I hoped to achieve were to get into a regular exercise regiment, to tone my muscles and to lose a little weight. The goals I have achieved are that I'm definitely in a routine now. I actually feel weird if I miss a class now! I've definitely toned muscle and the weight is slowly fading. I felt my first results within about a week. My core was definitely affecting my posture!. I saw these results after 3 classes. It's been a subtle change, but people definitely started commenting after about 10 classes. The most dramatic change was my posture. I am really aware now when I'm slouching!. I also noticed that I just feel better about myself. I am pleased with the level of attention in the group class. Especially since I tend to stick with the same few instructors, they really know me and my weak points (like scrunching my shoulders up) and they call me on it quickly. I am pleased with the quality of the Pilates teachers. Each instructor has such a distinct personality, it really gives the same general exercises unique feelings. I would like to share the fact that of the half dozen instructors I've taken classes with, the standouts are certainly Callie, who was my introductory class teacher and for a while Level 1 Sundays teacher. She's so attentive and patient, she really was the make or break for whether I'd stick with it. Richie...well, there's nobody like Richie. Going to class is as entertaining as it is beneficial. And Kim starts her classes by asking everyone what they're interested in targeting, then customizes the classes to those comments. She ends every class in prayer pose and I always walk out of there feeling relaxed, accomplished and positive.

I started at Pilates Reforming NY on 1/26/2011 and have taken 30 classes. My sports/physical acivities are yoga/ gym. I heard about Pilates Reforming NY through search engines. My main goal in taking Pilates was to strengthen my core and to develop muscle awareness. I don't think I have "achieved" my goal simply because my expectations have changed. As I have become stronger I have been consistently impressed by what my body can do. My core is stronger and I have better isolation within the exercises, but I'm looking forward to the continued benefits. I felt my first results within the first week, after a few classes. I began to see results after two weeks, or about 12 classes. Teachers commented on my progress after about five classes. As far as anyone else seeing the results, I'm waiting to break out the summer gear. My posture, upper abdominal muscles and my shoulders are the most visible improved so far. Since I have a fairly narrow build, I've never had much of a waist line, and for the first time I see a bit of a curve. I am very pleased with the level of attention the instructors provide the students in their classes. I am very pleased with the quality of the teachers at ReformingNY.

I heard about Pilates Reforming NY from my friend who worked across the street from the 42nd street studio at the time. The goals I hoped to achieve were building strength and definition and to get a the incredibly toned body that my friend had gotten after joining Pilates Reforming New York. The goals I have achieved are improving my posture and core strength. I felt my first results within two classes. I saw these results after five classes the first time I took classes. I was amazed when others saw - I knew it was working when I went to the doctor who measured me and said - you've grown a 1/2 inch (i'm in my 30s) - I said pilates maybe? And she said - that's probably the reason you've become longer because of your pilates classes. The most dramatic change was toned arms, lean thighs (no more rubbing together when walking down the street) and lately- since i've been going consistently three times a week I see the bottom pooch of my belly shrinking. I also noticed i feel stronger and happier. the teachers are so nice and encouraging and energetic - it's a mood booster to take classes. I am very pleased with the level of attention in the group class.
The instructors know their stuff!!. I am very pleased with the quality of the Pilates teachers. They can be tough but they are consitently a lovely, supportive and professional group of people. I may have to move soon and I am deliberately looking for an apartment that is close by to the studio so I can continue pilates at Reforming New York.

I started at Pilates Reforming NY on January 20, 2010 and have taken 100 classes. My sports/physical acivities are gym/biking/hiking. I heard about Pilates Reforming NY from the Internet. The goals that I hoped to achieve were to become more flexible and stronger. I have achieved my goals and intend to continue Pilates class.
I would like to become more flexible and stronger. I felt my first results in about three months. I saw these results after three months. I was amazed when others saw it in three months. The most dramatic change was that my abs become stronger. My hips and back do not cause me pain after a Pilates class. I am EXTREMELY pleased with the level of attention in the group class. I started at Pilates Reforming NY on 08/24/10 and have taken 32 classes. My sports/physical acivities are Yoga. I heard about Pilates Reforming NY online. The goals I hoped to achieve were to get stronger, more even and have better posture. I was in an accident a few years ago that really messed my body up and I stopped working out completly. The goals I have achieved are that i am definatly stronger and more even.
I still have to achieve the following goals i still would like to get stronger and keep working to even myself out. I felt my first results after my first class, i could feel muscles that i never knew i had. I saw these results after around 10 classes, i just seemed firmer. I was amazed when others saw results after about 25 classes, people started to say i looked in better shape/. The most dramatic change was my posture, i stand up straighter and look taller. I also noticed my yoga practice improve because i am stronger. I am pleased with the level of attention in the group class. It is amazing that teachers can still focus on you with so many students. I am pleased with the quality of the pilates teacher. They are all knowledgeable and professional. I would like to share the fact that even though i have issues with my body (i.e. plates and screws) i can still do pilates just fine.

I started at Pilates Reforming NY on 05/28/2010 and have taken 49 classes. My sports/physical acivities are Walking. In 2005, I had a co-worker who found PRNY on the internet and we did the first free trial class and one other class together and neither one of us ever continued. The goals I hoped to achieve were overall strength, flatter belly, and better posture. The goals I have achieved are definitely strength, endurance, flatter belly and somewhat better posture (not always great). I felt my first results fairly quickly. I remember one day before 10 classes that I had flat belly and I was so happy with myself. Didn't last but that is due to my naughty diet. I saw these arm muscles one day out of the blue and that was probably about 15 classes in. I would say around 25th class, my co-worker kept telling me that my body was definitely changing. She noticed before then but one day she said to me that she thought my mid-section definitely decreased in circumference. The most dramatic change is all my clothes are fitting looser---I can get into these skinny jeans I bought awhile back that I never dared to wear if I wanted to be able to sit(no lycra) or breathe. I am loving my (sometimes) flat belly and the muscles in my upper arms(never had them before). I have noticed when I try to do short runs(recent activity), I have better lung capacity and a significant increase in endurance. I am pleased with the level of attention in the group class though one day I may treat myself to private sessions. I am very pleased with the quality of the Pilates teachers. I especially would like to thank Bill Kerr for pushing me to where I am today. It has been the best love/hate relationship I have ever experienced. I "hate" him during the classes (bloody "hug a tree") because he pushes me until I think I am going to break but when I see/feel the results, I literally smile and say, "Thank YOU BILL!" He gets to know your body and understand your limitations but still insists on perfect form. Just when you think he can't possibly have any more routines, he somehow manages to pull out yet another torture technique. He keeps it fresh and challenging---I am a Bill class addict. Every time I walk out of one of his classes, I know I have done something great for myself. He is just an amazing talented teacher!

When I take Karina Michaels' classes, I am always having fun during and after. She is incredibly warm, encouraging, nurturing and who doesn't love the Karina-isms!. Pilates is something that I truly love enough that I know I will continue. I have joined gyms and hired trainers but never kept up with it because it felt more like a chore/obligation. I started with Pilates because I needed to get in shape in the laziest way possible. I have gained incredible fast results with what I feel is minimal effort and the classes have never felt like work. The work for me is the half hour it takes to get to/from the studios. I do feel like the cost is worth it because it is an investment in me and my future happy body!.

I started at Pilates Reforming NY on 02/21/2010 and have taken at least 70 classes. My sports/physical acivities are yoga and pilates. I heard about Pilates Reforming NY from two different girl friends, separately and independent of one another. The goals I hoped to achieve were more tone and sculpting ;). The goals I have achieved are i think i have started to achieve those goals - at least according to people in my life who have told me that my legs look more toned and that i have lost some weight.
I still have to achieve the following goals: i would still like to tone up a lot more. my arms and core. would LOVE that :). I felt my first results well...i have poor body image so i havent felt them but my man and others have commented that i started to look better a few months ago - so maybe after like 3 or 4 months after regular classes?. I saw these results after see above. I was amazed when others saw - still am - people are still telling me i have lost weight and look more toned. The most dramatic change was hasnt happened yet - sorry :). I also noticed how GREAT it makes me feel AND my back!! esp after short spine :)
AND i LOVE how i feel my core being worked when we are doing just arms!. I am pleased with the level of attention in the group class. yes. the classes are the perfect size. I am pleased with the quality of the Pilates teachers. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE them!! LOVE the variety of styles and techniques and personalities! so FANTASTIC!!. i just absolutely LOVE Pilates at Reforming NEw York. in just 55 minutes you get a quick thorough AWESOME workout and i LOVE that i am just lying there! :) i can even close my eyes for most of the class if i need to! i LOVE each and every instructor that i take class with because they each have their own unique teaching method, style, technique and personality and i think because most are - or were - performers, it just adds an extra fun flavor of variety humor and entertainment to class and makes it all that much more enjoyable and FUN! all while i am getting my body into sick shape :) THANK YOU! PRNY has changed my life for the MUCH MUCH BETTER!! <3 LOVE YOU GUYS!! <3 THANK YOU <3.

I started at Pilates Reforming NY on 03/01/10 and have taken 70 classes. My sports/physical acivities are Running, Pilates. I heard about Pilates Reforming NY by searching for Pilates Reformer classes online. The goals I hoped to achieve were to get fit & gain stronger muscles in my core & allover my body with an exciting new way of exercise for me. The goals I have achieved are by going about 4-5 times a week when I started, to now going to 3 classes a week most of the time. I have become much more strong & my body has changed to be slightly leaner than before.
I still have to achieve my goals for doing aerobic exercise more often & eating healthier everyday. I felt my first results after the first class. I really enjoy the movements & the places I've gained strength & I noticed immediately. I saw these results starting after about 3 weeks. I was dedicated to going often & saw results from that. I was amazed when others saw that my body was changing & I was becoming a much healthier & happier person after about 6 weeks. The most dramatic change was a leaner core. I also noticed that I have become healthier & happier since starting pilates. I am pleased with the level of attention in the group classes. Even in a larger class, I've felt that the instructors really try to reach everyone. I am pleased with the quality of the Pilates teachers. Everyone is so nice & truly dedicated to helping you achieve the results you crave. The instructors seem to want you to gain from knowing pilates, as they have. I would like to share the fact that Pilates has become one of my favorite things to do & know that it is something that I will now do forever. And, I couldn't be happier with Pilates Reforming NY as my host.

I started at Pilates Reforming NY on 1/4/2010 and have taken 78 classes. My sports/physical acivities are -. I heard about Pilates Reforming NY from a friend who feel in love with the studio. The goals I hoped to achieve were strength, weight loss, and balance. I have met all of my goals and look forward to continuing in the process. I felt my first results by week 2. I saw these results after one month of classes. I was amazed when others saw the changes in my body imediately. The most dramatic change was the way I carry myself and my posture. I am very pleased with the level of attention in the group class. I am pleased with the quality of the Pilates teachers. Since January I have been taking Pilates between 1 and 3 times a week and I love it. The classes make me feel accomplished and strong. Never in a million years did I feel I could accomplish all that I have and feel as strong and healthy as I do. And I attribute a lot of that to one of my instructors, Karina Michaels. Every single time I take her class she has a smile on her face and appears genuinely happy to be there. She listens to her students and pays attention to each and every one. During her class, she really describes each exercise in great detail so I completely understand what my body should and should not be doing as well. And above everything else, she is very encouraging and makes you want to return to her class the next day!.

I started at Pilates Reforming NY on January 2010 and have taken about 60 classes classes. My sports/physical acivities are Bo\iking/Hiking.Gym. I heard about Pilates Reforming NY through the internet. The goals I hoped to achieve were to increase flexibility and recuperate from hip surgery. I still have to achieve the following goals: more flexibility, awareness of body alignment, and building muscle tone. I felt my first results were within the first eight weeks. I saw these results after about 16 classes. I was amazed when others saw my progress, particularly Richie Mastascusa who was the teacher that taught the classes I took. The most dramatic change was my posture and strength. I am much more aware of my spine and stand taller/stronger. I am pleased with the quality of the Pilates teachers. I just started here one week ago and love it. I had been fortunate enough to take my first intro with Kate, this was an awesome exp. I have also taken two classes with Ann and she has been extremely helpful and encouraging, always taking the time to point out the correct way to do things and get the full effect. I also have tried Orion's class, an apprentice class which I enjoyed very much and lastly Rich's class was great - more encouragement and awesome music. So far I am love love loving this. I started at Pilates Reforming NY on 8/28/2010 and have taken 1 classes. My sports/physical acivities are pilates. Wow, I really did not feel well as I made my way to pilates this morning. In fact I considered taking migrane medication. I took a few minutes in the sun and drank some water as I entered the studio. 55 minutes later I was a new person. No headache and completely streched. thank you Angela Paul, thank you Pilates RNY.

I started at Pilates Reforming NY on 3/24/2010 and have taken 30 classes. My sports/physical acivities are Tennis, swimming. I heard about Pilates Reforming NY on Yelp. The goals I hoped to achieve were to achieve muscle tone and weight loss. I have gained significant muscle tone, but I have yet to see significant weight loss. I felt my first results about 4 classes in. I saw these results after about 10 classes. I was amazed when others saw results after I had taken 15 classes. The most dramatic change was the new muscles in my arms and legs (biceps, triceps, and calf muscles). I also noticed that my abs are stronger and more defined. I am pleased with the level of attention in the group class. I am pleased with the quality of the Pilates teachers. The teachers at Pilates Reforming NY are the most impressive and attentive that I have had in NYC. The teachers are receptive to student concerns and open to requests. Additionally, the amount of time teachers spend correcting each student is valuable to performing each exercise correctly.

I started at Pilates Reforming NY on 05/25/2010 and have taken 31 classes. My sports/physical acivities are Walking/Weights/Dance Workouts. I heard about Pilates Reforming NY from a friend who had tried it a few years ago and always meant to go back. The goals I hoped to achieve were, to regain core strength and muscle coordination after major abdominal surgery in February 2007. Also I lost 20lbs in 2009 and needed to tone up. The goals I have achieved are core strength, overall conditioning and agility, improved posture (and perceived height), toned appearance, improved flexibility and gait.
I still have to achieve the following goals; a fully toned abdomen, the ability to roll up from supine position. I felt my first results after five classes. I saw these results after fifteen classes. I was amazed when others saw results after 20 classes. The most dramatic change was my waistline became more streamlined and I was able to naturally hold in my abdomen without thought or effort. I also noticed my arms and legs are more toned. I am pleased with the level of attention in the group class. I am pleased with the quality of the Pilates teachers. I would like to share the fact that the studios and teachers were very warm and welcoming which made the whole experience very enjoyable.

I started at Pilates Reforming NY on 3/28/10 and have taken 30 classes. My sports/physical acivities are Yoga. I heard about Pilates Reforming NY through the Actors' Equity Association. I had taken a break from performing and my physical activity level dropped lower than it's ever been and I was feeling the need to get back in shape before diving back in to work/play. I was looking for something to complement my yoga practice (which I'd also let slide, but am back to now regularly) that would help me regain strength without sacrificing flexibilty. Pilates seemed to fit the bill - and after the first class I knew I was in the right place. Now after 30 classes, I definitely feel stronger and still flexible. And while I still have some more to do before I reach my goal, I'm well on my way, and in fact, landed two shows for the summer! I am pleased with the level of attention in the group class and I am very pleased with the quality of the Pilates teachers. (Kat, Karina, Kate, Bill, Richie and Ian are excellent!) Thank you all!!.

I started at Pilates Reforming NY on 01/06/2010 and have taken 38 classes. My sports/physical acivities are walking. I found out about Pilates Reforming NY when I saw the studio being built down the street from my apartment. I saw the sign out front, went to the website, and signed up for a free class. The goals I hoped to achieve were to strengthen my core muscles thereby protecting my back from further injury and tone my body into a more slim physique. I have more muscle definition in my arms and legs, however I would like to continue to work to flatten my stomach and advance to mixed level. After each beginning class I felt sore and knew my arms, legs, and stomach were getting toned. After a few months I felt more muscular and the movements became easier. Just recently I noticed that my waist was thinner and when I walk my feet seem to be moving straighter. I was amazed when my instructer said she saw a difference in the area around my upper abdomen after about the 18th class. She noticed after I walked in the door and later during bridging. The most dramatic change was how I felt about myself. I know that I am exercising correctly and working on my appearance which translates into having more confidence. I think I have more stamina, particularly when climbing stairs. I am quite pleased with the level of attention in the group class. The majority of classes I have taken have had four students or less. I like that I can see the number of students already signed up for a class ahead of time so that I can choose which classes to attend to maximize the instructor's attention. I am pleased with the quality of the Pilates teachers. Specifically, I have taken the majority of classes with Sonya Jackson and found her to be excellent at motivating students and helping them to learn the correct techniques by explaining the science behind the movements. I also enjoy classes with Ian for his differing perspective and way of thinking. I would like to share the fact that pilates on a reformer is challenging and fun and a total body work out.

I discovered Pilates Reforming NY at 215th and Broadway very close to where I live. I had heard of Pilates before and, needing an exercise routine, decided to try it out. The goal I hoped to achieve was to have a slimmer, fitter physique. The goals I have achieved are a more muscular physique and somewhat less rounded belly. I still have to achieve a belly which is truly flat. I am also trying to get to Mixed Level. I felt sore after the beginning classes, but after 18 classes or so I began feeling thinner and more muscular. I saw these results after 18 classes or so. I was amazed when others saw results after 20 classes or so. The most dramatic change was my becoming more muscular. I also noticed that I began feeling better about my appearance. I am pleased with the level of attention in the group class, particularly in those classes with four people or less. I am pleased with the quality of the Pilates teachers. I am particularly happy with Sonya Jackson, who is an excellent motivational instructor. Learning new movements is a challenge for me, but Sonya makes it relatively easy. I look forward to her classes every week. I would like to share the fact that Pilates has provided me with an enjoyable regular exercise routine.

I heard about Pilates Reforming NY by a flyer on a sandwich board outside the 39th Street studio. The goals I hoped to achieve were looking better and relieving back pain. The goals I have achieved are - eliminating my back pain.
I still have to achieve the following goals - I want to flatten my stomach and hips and look better in a bathing suit. I felt my first results after the very first class. I saw these results after - after 10 classes, my back pain completely disappeared. I was amazed when others saw the change in my body. The most dramatic change was the elimination of my back pain. I also noticed that I am calmer and I walk with better posture. I am pleased with the level of attention in the group class. I am pleased with the quality of the Pilates teachers. Just call me "the incredible shrinking woman" like the title of a movie years ago. I joined Pilates because my back was killing me and I had sciatica pain shooting down the back of both legs. My doctor always told me to strengthen my abdominal muscles to take the pressure off my lower back. Every night for many years, I swore I'd go home that night and do sit ups, etc. to strengthen my abdominals. But I never did the exercises because I simply didn't want to. Everyone always talks about how Pilates strengthens the core, including those hard to exercise abdominal muscles. I saw a sign outside the 39th Street studio and decided to sign up for a free class on the Reformer. I loved the class and my back no longer hurts! I have shrunk at least one dress size. I look better and feel great. I have more energy and I look forward to getting the sleek, slender body that I had when I was younger. I cannot thank you enough - to be pain free of those terrible sciatica pains running down the back of my legs is a wonderful thing. All the instructors I have taken have been very supportive and I really appreciate all the effort they put into their classes. I would recommend Reforming New York Pilates to everyone who wants to look better and feel better.

The goals I hoped to achieve were improved performance in Martial Arts and other forms of exercise. The goals I have achieved are increased core strength and stability in performance of Forms (Kata) and Sparring. I felt my first results within about 4 weeks. I saw these results after 8 weeks. I was amazed when others saw about 8 weeks after beginning. The most dramatic change was I do not hunch over anymore. I also noticed I have much improved stamina due to the breathing exercises and I feel that I can work out more efficiently. I am pleased with the level of attention in the group class. I heard about Pilates Reforming NY searching online. The goals I hoped to achieve are: structural body alignment, great physical shape, calmness and motivation. Portions of my goals have been met. I commited myself to taking 30 classes straight through, and due to acheiving that goal I look and feel better, faster then expected and with no exhausting effort. I felt my first results by the 10th class. I saw these results after the 20th class. I was amazed when others saw results by the 20th class. The most dramatic change is the way I now walk with better balance and posture. A great benefit has been the physical energy and stamina I have obtained.. I have experienced a great deal of pain for quite a while on the arches of my feet. The weight on the outside, inside of the feet were not balanced over the ankles. All the rubbers of my shoes are wasted on one side. Due to taking these classes, my pain has subsided quite a lot and the weight on my feet are definitely much more balanced.
